GDPR user consent, group of more than 80 Spanish media outlets claiming €550 million from Meta group

04/12/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 4 December, a group of just over 80 Spanish media outlets lodged a complaint against the digital giant Meta. The complainants accuse the parent company of Facebook and Instagram of having “systematically and massively” breached the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) between May 2018 and July 2023, and the provisions relating to the consent that users must give regarding the use of their data for advertising purposes.
