24/11/2023 (Agence Europe) – The EU is mobilising €15 million in humanitarian aid for the most vulnerable people in Syria and Lebanon, announced the European Commission on Friday 24 November. €11.5 million is earmarked for Syria, where 15.3 million people are in need. €3.5 million is earmarked for Lebanon, where 3.9 million people, including 1.5 million refugees, depend on humanitarian aid, according to the United Nations. This funding will enable partner humanitarian organisations – NGOs and UN agencies – to provide food aid and access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene to those who need it most. This brings the total humanitarian aid allocated to Syria this year to over €186.5 million and over €67 million for vulnerable Lebanese and refugees in Lebanon. (AN)
