14/11/2023 (Agence Europe) – In the third quarter of 2023, seasonally-adjusted GDP decreased by 0.1% in the euro area and remained stable in the European Union compared with the previous quarter, according to a flash estimate published by the EU’s statistical office (Eurostat) on Tuesday 14 November. Of the 23 countries for which data is available, GDP decreased in 11 of them. The fall was greatest in Ireland (-1.8%), Finland (-0.9%) and Austria (-0.6%). Conversely, wealth creation was strongest in Poland (1.4%), Hungary (0.9%) and Latvia (0.6%). GDP decreased in Germany (-0.1%), stagnated in Italy, remained sluggish in France (0.1%) and rose by 0.3% in Spain. Over the same period, the number of people in employment rose by 0.3% in the euro area and by 0.2% in the EU. (MB)
