30/10/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 30 October, the European Commission approved a French measure worth €659 million to support a project by Verkor (France) to research and develop new innovative industrial processes for the production of lithium-ion battery cells and modules for electric vehicles. The project will focus on automating production by digitalising processes, improving materials recycling and designing a pilot battery production line. Verkor is committed to sharing the technical know-how acquired as part of the project with industry and academia. The Commission found that the measure complied with the European rules on State aid and, in particular, with the Framework for State Aid for Research and Development and Innovation and Article 107(3)(c) of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.
