17/10/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 17 October, the European Commission launched its third series of calls for proposals to boost the deployment of ultra-fast digital infrastructures. This new series of calls for a total budget of €240 million under the digital strand of the Connecting Europe Facility will focus in particular on 5G coverage along transport corridors – to which €100 million will be allocated – as well as backbone connectivity for global digital gateways, for which the budget will be capped at €90 million, and 5G and ‘Edge Cloud’ for ‘smart communities’ (€51 million). Applications for this series of calls must be submitted by 17 January 2024. (TM)
