17/10/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 17 October, the European Commission approved three new additions to the Protected Geographical Indications register. The German Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) ‘Großräschener See’ is part of the ‘Brandenburger Landwein’ PGI. It includes the areas where vines can be planted in the Großräschen district, where the climate is influenced by Lake Großräschen, which has an area of around 775 ha. All the grapes are selectively picked by hand, resulting in particularly clear, pure wines. The Commission has also registered the ‘Terras de Cister’ PGI, which designates a Portuguese wine, as well as another PGI for Portuguese wines, ‘Terras do Dão’. (LC)
