14/09/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 13 September, the European Parliament approved the appointment of Katarína Kaszasová to the European Court of Auditors by 597 votes to 12 with 33 abstentions. Appointed by the Slovak government, Ms Kaszasová has been Director General of the Slovak Audit Oversight Authority since 2020. She has held senior positions in financial institutions such as the European Investment Bank, the European Investment Fund and the European Stability Mechanism in Luxembourg. The final decision on her candidacy now rests with the EU Member States. This process is in line with the provision of the EU Treaty, which stipulates that the Member States propose candidates for the Court of Auditors and that, after consulting the Parliament, they are appointed by the Member States for a term of six years.
