Wopke Hoekstra to replace Frans Timmermans in College

24/08/2023 (Agence Europe) – The outgoing Dutch government has chosen to appoint Foreign Minister Wopke Hoekstra as a replacement for the former European Commissioner for the ‘European Green Deal’, Frans Timmermans, who is standing as a candidate in the forthcoming parliamentary elections (see EUROPE 13234/3), according to information first revealed by the Financial Times. Mr Hoekstra’s name appeared in the Pandora Papers in 2020, when he was Finance Minister, for investments made in the British Virgin Islands (see EUROPE 12804/2). (MB)
