24/07/23 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 24 July, the European Commission announced that it had authorised a Polish State aid scheme worth around €47 million (PLN 210 million) to support businesses in the primary agricultural production sector faced with the consequences of Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine. The measure will consist of direct subsidies to support farmers facing cash shortages due to rising seed prices. These grants will amount to a maximum of €250,000 per beneficiary and will be awarded no later than 31 December 2023. The European Commission considered that this measure complied with European rules on State aid and, more specifically, with the State aid Temporary Crisis and Transition Framework, adopted by the institution on 9 March 2023 (see EUROPE 13138/1).
