12/07/23 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 12 July, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) published its first consultation package under the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) Regulation (see EUROPE 13183/4). The EU’s financial markets regulator and supervisor is seeking comments on proposed rules for crypto-asset service providers, particularly in relation to their authorisation, the identification and management of conflicts of interest, and how such providers should deal with complaints. “This first consultation package is an important step for ESMA in implementing the MiCA framework. It translates into concrete requirements our ambition to establish high regulatory standards in the EU for crypto-asset activities”, commented ESMA Chair Verena Ross.
