05/07/23 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 4 July, Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabić announced that Serbia hoped to open a third cluster of EU accession negotiations by the end of the year. “We are part of the European continent and the European family of nations. At the end of the day, I don’t think we have a plan B”, she told a panel discussion. So far, Belgrade has opened two of the five chapter clusters. While Ms Brnabić felt that “the most complex reforms”, in particular that of the judicial system, had been “fully implemented”, she also acknowledged that the issue of alignment with EU sanctions against Moscow and the situation in Kosovo remained the main challenges for Serbia. “Kosovo is not a challenge that depends on us alone, it takes two to tango”, she said (see EUROPE 13213/4).
