21/06/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 21 June, the ambassadors of the Member States to the European Union (Coreper) approved the decision to sign the trade agreement with New Zealand. The European Affairs ministers will be asked to sign it on 27 June, according to two European sources. As a traditionally free-trading country, Sweden will be able to congratulate itself on this signature during its Presidency of the EU Council. The Commission concluded negotiations with Wellington in June 2022 (see EUROPE 12983/5). The European Parliament, which was calling for the text to be signed and then ratified quickly (see EUROPE 12992/24), will now be asked to give its consent after the Council. (LM)
