EU Council agreement on eleventh package of sanctions targeting Kremlin

On Wednesday 21 June, the ambassadors of the Member States to the European Union (Coreper) reached agreement on the eleventh package of sanctions targeting Russia for its military aggression against Ukraine (see EUROPE 13177/13, 13185/21).

This package includes measures aimed at countering sanctions circumvention and individual listings”, said the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the EU on Twitter. These sanctions will be made public at the end of the legislative procedure, probably on Friday 23 June.

Three Hong Kong-based entities are included in a list of companies subject to restrictions on the export of sensitive technological products that could be used to manufacture weapons in Russia, according to AFP.

Presented at the beginning of May, this package of sanctions was blocked for a time by Hungary and Greece, who demanded that national companies be removed from a Ukrainian list of companies supporting the Russian war effort.

EPF. On Wednesday, Coreper also approved an increase in the financial ceiling of the European Peace Facility (EPF) to €3.5 billion, announced the Swedish Presidency.

In its view, this decision reaffirms the EU’s commitment to supporting its international partners in the fields of defence and security, not just Ukraine. (Original version in French by Mathieu Bion)
