08/06/23 (Agence Europe) – A number of consumer and energy industry organisations sent a letter, on Wednesday 7 June, to the Swedish Presidency of the EU Council expressing their concern at the delay in adopting the Renewable Energy Directive following a disagreement between Member States over the place allocated to renewable fuels of non-biological origin (see EUROPE 13184/20). “Every day that passes without a final Renewable Energy Directive slows the deployment of renewables projects that are badly needed to deliver globally competitive and home-grown energy to European businesses and families”. They are therefore calling on the Presidency to facilitate the final adoption of the directive in order to “address the energy crisis and stay the course on climate action".
