08/06/23 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 8 June, the international journal Earth System Science Data, part of Copernicus Publications, published an update on the IPCC’s sixth assessment. The international group of researchers behind this new study concludes that anthropogenic global warming averaged 1.14°C over the decade from 2013 to 2022 and 1.26°C in 2022. Over the 2013-2022 period, anthropogenic warming is estimated to have increased at an unprecedented rate of more than 0.2°C per decade. This high rate of warming is thought to be caused by a combination of record greenhouse gas emissions over the last decade and reductions in the cooling power of aerosols. However, the report notes that the increase in greenhouse gas emissions has slowed. Read the conclusions at https://aeur.eu/f/7cb (NP)
