01/06/23 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 1 June, the European Parliament adopted a proposal to mobilise the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) to help workers made redundant (555 votes in favour, 28 against and 51 abstentions), with the aim of allocating, on the initiative of the European Commission, a sum of €190,000 to cover technical assistance to the EGF. A maximum of 0.5% of the annual amount of the EGF may be devoted to technical assistance each year. This sum of €190,000 corresponds to 0.09% of the amount for 2023. The aim of technical assistance is to finance technical and administrative expenditure for the implementation of the EGF “in the form of preparatory, monitoring, control, audit and evaluation activities as well as data collection”, states the report by Monika Vana (Greens/EFA, Austrian).
