26/05/23 (Agence Europe) – A second public consultation, launched by the European Commission on 23 May, is open until midnight on 15 August to gather comments from all parties on a draft implementing regulation concerning the environmental performance of imaging equipment (printers) and consumables (cartridges). This implementing regulation will make it possible to implement the requirements of the future regulation emblematic of the circular economy ‘Ecodesign for Sustainable Products’ which is currently being examined (see EUROPE 13185/1). The aim is threefold: - imaging equipment is designed to be energy and resource-efficient; - consumers have the information they need to use their devices sustainably; - the generation of waste through the use of consumables is minimised. An initial call for evidence was launched in January (see EUROPE 13110/9). To access the online consultation: https://aeur.eu/f/73i (AN)
