EU condemns Israeli settler violence

24/05/2023 (Agence Europe)On Wednesday 24 May the European Union “strongly” condemned the Israeli “settler violence” that led to the expulsion of the Palestinian community of Ein Samiya in the occupied West Bank, composed of 172 people, including 78 children, “following repeated settler attacks and demolition orders”. It calls Israel to account, in a statement by the European External Action Service spokesperson. The EU is also “gravely concerned” about the decision to allow Israeli citizens to establish a permanent presence in the outpost of Homesh in the occupied West Bank. And it “urges” the Israeli government to reverse its decision to go ahead with the construction of more than 600 housing units in existing and new settlements in the West Bank, as settlements are “illegal under international law”.
