24/05/23 (Agence Europe) – Siegfried Mureșan (EPP, Romanian) was appointed general rapporteur for the EU budget for the year 2024 on Tuesday 23 May in Parliament’s Budgets Committee (BUDG). He will replace Janusz Lewandowski (EPP, Polish). “My aim is to unite the European Parliament and ensure a strong role for the Parliament in the upcoming budget negotiations”, he said. Already rapporteur for the 2018 budget, Siegfried Mureșan stressed the importance of a timely adoption. “EU funds are needed now more than ever in our Member States and to overcome the difficulties in Ukraine. We will help farmers and businesses, provide protection and security for those in need, strengthen our economy, become more innovative, more digital and cleaner”.
