The European Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, received the Moldovan Minister of Energy, Victor Parlicov, as part of the fourth EU-Moldova High Level Energy Dialogue, held in Brussels on Tuesday 23 May, which allowed the Commission to reaffirm its support to Moldova and its energy sector.
“We were (...) able to look beyond the coming winter and discuss areas where Moldova and the European Commission can work together to further facilitate Moldova’s integration into the EU energy market”, said Kadri Simson, following the meeting.
Discussions focused on Moldova’s ongoing reforms to align its legislative framework with that of the EU with regard to energy, as part of its commitments within the Energy Community.
The Commission welcomed the country’s progress in implementing the Regulation on Governance of the Energy Union and Climate Action, including the National Energy and Climate Plans (NECP) and the Renewable Energy Directive.
In addition to the role of renewable energy in Moldova’s energy transition, the Commissioner and the Moldovan minister discussed the role of energy efficiency, especially in residential buildings. (Original version in French by Pauline Denys)
