22/05/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 22 May, the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) announced the launch, with its Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) dedicated to energy, EIT InnoEnergy, of a gigafactory for the production of solar panels by the Holosolis consortium in Moselle (France). The factory is expected to start production in 2025. At full capacity, Holosolis plans to produce around 10 million photovoltaic modules per year. According to the EIT, this is enough to power one million European homes. Holosolis aims to accelerate innovation across the entire photovoltaic value chain. More broadly, the Holosolis consortium says it is committed to producing the most energy-efficient modules with the smallest carbon footprint and the highest social standards. (EV)
