05/05/2023 (Agence Europe) – EU High Representative Josep Borrell reacted on Friday 5 May to the shooting that left eight people dead and 13 injured earlier in the day near the town of Mladenovac, some 60 kilometres south of Belgrade. “Another mass shooting in Serbia with innocent people killed. This is a shocking and terrible tragedy. We feel the pain and support the people of Serbia in this difficult time. The EU is with Serbia”, he commented on Twitter. For the EU Commissioner for Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi, “this violence must stop now!”. This is the second deadly shooting in Serbia in the space of three days. On 3 May, nine people - including eight children - were killed in a school in central Belgrade (see EUROPE 13174/40). (TM)
