The EU took the next step in its dispute with the US over Spanish olives on Tuesday 2 May. It has requested consultations with Washington under the “compliance” procedure of the World Trade Organization (WTO) dispute settlement system.
It considers that the US has not complied with WTO arbitration and has not removed the anti-dumping duties in force on black table olives from Spain. A WTO panel had ruled that these US anti-dumping duties were unfounded in 2021.
