24/04/2023 (Agence Europe) – To mark the start of European Immunisation Week 2023, Stella Kyriakides, European Commissioner for Health, Hans Henri P. Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe, and Afshan Khan, UNICEF Regional Director, issued a statement on Monday 24 April expressing their joint commitment to continue to protect the most vulnerable from the worst effects of Covid-19 through vaccination. “It is in our common interest to protect each other from disease; critical to this is reaching out to people to encourage them to come forward for vaccination, keeping up with national vaccine schedules, and catching up on vaccinations that have been missed”, says the statement. “Every dose in a country’s national immunisation schedule is timed to build or sustain protection from one or more diseases. Every missed or delayed dose puts someone at greater risk of infection”, it explains. See the statement: https://aeur.eu/f/6io (LC)
