Virtual worlds, a random sample of citizens recommends regular reviews of EU guidelines and creation of a harmonised labour market

24/04/2023 (Agence Europe)On Monday 24 April, a random sample of 150 citizens chosen to represent the diversity of the EU population presented a set of 23 recommendations on citizens’ expectations, principles and actions to ensure fair access to virtual worlds. The citizens surveyed call for, among other things, the creation of harmonised training for working in virtual worlds, a regular review of the EU guidelines on virtual worlds, and certification of virtual world companies and users. The recommendations come as the European Commission opened a consultation period on 5 April for future measures to develop a vision for emerging virtual worlds, such as the metaverse (see EUROPE 13158/8).
