03/04/23 (Agence Europe) – The European Cohesion Fund celebrates its 30th anniversary on Monday 3 April. In total, it has invested almost €179 billion in the EU’s economic, social and territorial cohesion. For the period 2021-2027, it is supporting 15 Member States and has a budget of €48.03 billion. During its 30 years of existence, it has played a central role in, among other things, the development of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) (see EUROPE 13151/4) and public transport. It has also supported large-scale environmental infrastructure, such as wastewater treatment plants and recycling. Finally, it has contributed to the deployment of renewable energies and to the establishment of protection mechanisms against natural disasters (for example fires and floods). (HS)
