23/03/23 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 23 March, the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties approved the agreement reached with the EU Council on the liberalisation of the short-stay visa regime with Kosovo (see EUROPE 13138/6). With 47 votes in favour, eight against and four abstentions, the committee gave the green light to the final adoption of the legislation “which will allow citizens of Kosovo to travel to the EU - and EU citizens to travel to Kosovo - without applying for a visa, for periods of up to 90 days within a period of 180 days”, a statement said. The European Parliament’s position was defended by Thijs Reuten (S&D, Dutch). The Parliament is expected to give its final approval at the plenary session from 17 to 20 April. (SP)
