23/03/2023 (Agence Europe) – To date, more than 2,000 vulnerable Ukrainian patients in need of further treatment or urgent medical assistance have been transferred to European hospitals through the EU’s Civil Protection Mechanism, the European Commission announced on Thursday 23 March. The 20 European host countries are Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden. The EU Medevac platform in Rzeszów (Poland) provides a safe space for patients who have been transported from Ukraine to Poland by land and they can receive nursing care before being evacuated by air (see EUROPE 13012/12).
