22/02/23 (Agence Europe) – A delegation of seven MEPs will join the EU Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) led by Barry Andrews MEP (Renew Europe, Irish) for the Nigerian general elections (presidential, parliamentary and senatorial) on 25 February (see EUROPE 13089/27). The European Parliament delegation, led by Evin Incir (S&D, Swedish), will be in Nigeria from Thursday 23 to Monday 27 February. It will also include Ivan Štefanec (EPP, Slovakian), Robert Biedroń (S&D, Polish), Georgios Kyrtsos (Renew Europe, Greek), Ignazio Corrao (Greens/EFA, Italian), Virginie Joron (ID, French) and Balázs Hidveghi (Non-attached, Hungarian). The EU EOM will deliver its preliminary findings on 27 February. The EU observed the Nigerian general elections in 2007, 2015 and 2019 as well as the presidential elections in 2003 and 2011. (AN)
