22/02/2023 (Agence Europe) – EU Member States advised the European Parliament on Wednesday 22 February to give discharge to the European Commission on the implementation of the EU budget for 2021. The Committee of Member States’ Representatives to the EU (Coreper) has indeed approved this recommendation, as well as the guidelines on the EU budget 2024 (https://aeur.eu/f/5g0 ), which will be formally adopted by the Ecofin Council on 14 March. The EU Council regrets that the level of error estimated by the Court of Auditors in 2021 has increased from 2.7 to 3% and notes that a substantial part of the expenditure audited by the Court, namely 63.2%, mainly reimbursement-based expenditure, is significantly affected by errors.
