NGOs call on European legislators to adopt regulation on removal of child pornography from Internet

22/02/23 (Agence Europe)The NGO Missing Children Europe launched the Right In Front of Us (#ChildSafetyOn) campaign with 13 organisations on Wednesday 22 February, the European Day for Victims of Crime. The NGOs called on European legislators to adopt the draft regulation on the removal of child pornography online (see EUROPE 13125/12) which would create “a legal obligation for companies such as Meta, TikTok and Google to identify, remove and report child pornography on their platforms. It is essential that these companies are held accountable for their failure to protect children”. “Grooming is a growing factor in child disappearances. The proposed EU regulation is urgently needed to prevent and combat the sexual exploitation of children”, says former MEP Anna Maria Corazza Bildt, President of Missing Children Europe.
