22/02/23 (Agence Europe) – The European Democratic Party (EDP) launched, on Tuesday 21 February, a campaign to defend and strengthen European democracy. The campaign is based on a manifesto prepared for the European elections in spring 2024, which sets out the reforms needed to make the European Union more democratic. These include the creation of transnational lists within a European electoral constituency, the limitation of decisions taken by unanimity of the Member States, the increase of socio-cultural exchanges between young people, the deepening of the social pillar, increased economic convergence of a core group of countries within the euro area (including the Franco-German couple), additional own resources to the EU budget (taxation of financial transactions and digital giants), a comprehensive approach to the management of migration flows and a re-appropriation of European trade policy by the citizens.
