The European Commission decided on Wednesday 1 February to appoint Stéphanie Riso as Director-General for the Directorate-General for Budget (DG BUDG).
The decision will take effect on 16 February 2023. Stéphanie Riso, a French national, has more than 20 years of experience in dealing with EU budgetary and financial matters in the Commission. She is currently Deputy Head of Cabinet of President Ursula von der Leyen, responsible for the EU’s Multiannual Financial Framework and economic policy coordination and relations with the UK and Switzerland.
Furthermore, in the interests of the service, the Commission has decided to transfer Marc Lemaître to the function of Director-General of the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD).
Marc Lemaître, a Luxembourg national, has been Director-General of the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) since 2016.
The Commission has appointed Frenchman Christian Roques as Deputy Director-General of the Directorate-General for Human Resources and Security (DG HR). (Original version in French by Lionel Changeur)
