09/01/2023 (Agence Europe) – The policy programme for the Digital Decade 2030 came into force on Monday 9 January. “With the monitoring mechanism, we now have concrete targets on how to put digital technology at the service of all citizens and businesses”, commented the European Commission’s Executive Vice-President for a Europe fit for the Digital Age, Margrethe Vestager. As a reminder, this text - formally adopted on 8 December by the EU Council (see EUROPE 13080/37) - should, among other things, make it possible to set concrete objectives in the areas of e-skills, infrastructure and the digitalisation of businesses and online public services. In June the European Commission will publish the first report on the state of the Digital Decade to provide an update, assessment and recommendation on progress towards the goals.
