08/12/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 8 December, the Council of the EU formally adopted the political programme ‘Path to the Digital Decade’ (see EUROPE 13012/9). “This programme will enable the entire economy and society to embark on a focused digital transformation train”, commented Czech Deputy Prime Minister for Digitisation Ivan Bartoš. As a reminder, this programme should enable concrete digital objectives to be achieved by 2030 to be defined for Member States, such as the strengthening of digital skills and education, the development of secure and sustainable digital infrastructures, the digital transformation of businesses and the digitalisation of public services. To achieve this, the Commission will have to develop EU-wide plans for each of the EU’s digital targets, in cooperation with the Member States. They will have to develop national plans and strategic roadmaps to achieve these targets until their review which is scheduled for 2026. (TM)
