08/12/2022 (Agence Europe) – The spokesperson of the European External Action Service, Peter Stano, welcomed, on Thursday 8 December, the “efforts” of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to document violations of human rights and international humanitarian law in the context of the war in Ukraine. The day before, a report by the High Commissioner revealed that Russian troops had killed at least 441 civilians between 24 February and early April in Kyiv, Chernihiv and Sumy. “These findings are very serious, it just reaffirms once again the worst-case scenarios around atrocities committed by Russian forces in Russian-controlled Ukrainian towns and villages”, he said, adding that according to the report there are “strong indications” that the executions could be war crimes and intentional killings.
