09/01/2023 (Agence Europe) – The Swedish Presidency of the Council of the European Union sees no obstacles to the formal adoption of the agreement between the EU co-legislators on the revision of the Emissions Trading System (ETS), said Torbjörn Haak, Sweden’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the EU, on Monday 9 January during a media briefing. The provisional agreement was reached on the night of Saturday 17 to Sunday 18 December (see EUROPE 13087/4) and has yet to receive the final green light from MEPs and Member States. The Parliament’s rapporteur on the subject, Peter Liese (EPP, German), will brief his colleagues on the outcome of the negotiations with the EU Council (‘trilogues’) on Thursday 12 January, at the next meeting of the European Parliament’s Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI).
