Cypriot aid of €12 million to support access to broadband services gets green light

On Wednesday 21 December, the European Commission authorised a €12 million Cypriot credit scheme, made available in part through the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), to help households access broadband services.

The scheme, which will run until 30 June 2025, will be partially funded by the RRF. It supports the take-up of broadband services by the existing infrastructure, ensuring high availability of broadband services to citizens.

The support will take the form of vouchers for households without a connection offering a downstream speed of at least 100 megabits per second (mbps). The scheme will cover part of the installation costs and the first 12 months of subscription to broadband services providing download speeds of at least 200 mbps. The scheme will benefit approximately 82,000 households.

All broadband service providers capable of providing the required services will be eligible under the measure. (Original version in French by Lionel Changeur)
