16/12/2022 (Agence Europe) – The Chair of the European Parliament’s delegation for relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo, Romeo Franz (Greens/EFA, German), and Viola von Cramon-Taubadel (Greens/EFA, German), the permanent rapporteur for Kosovo, called on the Council, on Thursday 15 December, to give a mandate to the European Commission to prepare “without delay an opinion on the merits of Kosovo’s application to become an EU candidate country”. Earlier in the day, the country had formally submitted its application. According to them, Kosovo will make additional efforts to address the multiple challenges on its European path, expecting this symbolic act of applying for membership to be followed by “concrete and meaningful actions”, in particular regarding the normalisation of relations with Serbia.
