Council of Europe offers political support for reopening of Lachin corridor

16/12/2022 (Agence Europe)Freedom and security of movement of persons and goods must be urgently restored along the corridor”, said the four co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe for Armenia and Azerbaijan on Friday 16 December. Ian Liddell-Grainger, Lise Christoffersen, Kimmo Kiljunen and Boriana Åberg reported that the current situation and the question of a lasting peace between the two countries were discussed on 14 December by the Assembly’s Monitoring Committee with Toivo Klaar, the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus, and Brice Roquefeuil, the French Co-Chair of the OSCE’s Minsk Group. The four co-rapporteurs reiterated their “readiness to provide all political support needed, including by undertaking a fact-finding mission to the region”. (Original version in French by Véronique Leblanc)
