12/12/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 12 December, the Council adopted a decision establishing a military partnership mission under the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) to support Niger in its fight against terrorist armed groups. This mission, called EUMPM Niger, will contribute to the implementation of a capacity building plan for Niger by supporting the creation of the Centre for the Training of the Technicians of the Armed Forces. It will provide specialist advice and training on request to specialists in the Nigerien armed forces and support the creation of a new communications and command support battalion. The initial mandate of the mission, which will work closely with EUCAP Sahel Niger, is for three years, with a budget of €27.3 million. The mission commander will be Vice Admiral Hervé Bléjean. (CG)
