02/12/2022 (Agence Europe) – As part of the Intellectual Property Action Plan (see EUROPE 12609/11), the European Commission announced on Tuesday 29 November the publication of new proposals regarding European rules on industrial designs. The initiative concerns the Community Design Regulation and the Directive on the legal protection of designs. Both proposals aim to: - simplify and streamline the procedure for registering a design or model at EU level; - harmonise procedures and ensure complementarity with national design and model protection systems; - allow the reproduction of original designs with a view to repairing complex products.
