30/11/2022 (Agence Europe) – Geoffroy Didier (EPP, French) will be the rapporteur for the European Parliament’s Committee on Internal Market (IMCO) on the European Media Freedom Act (EMFA) (see EUROPE 13069/23). Initially, the IMCO and Civil Liberties (LIBE) Committees were asked to provide an opinion, while the Committee on Culture (CULT) was designated as the lead committee. However, this decision was contested “by other committees”, we are told by the European Parliament, and has not yet been resolved. On the EU Council side, the issues of subsidiarity and the scope of the EMFA are expected to occupy Member States during the Swedish Presidency of the Council (see EUROPE 13073/25). (HS)
