On Thursday 24 November, the European Commission adopted the German and Bulgarian programmes implementing the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) covering the period 2021-2027.
The total financial allocation for the German programme 2021-2027 is worth €302.6 million, with the EU contribution amounting to €211.8 million. 49% of the programme envelope is for sustainable fisheries, and 33% will be spent on sustainable aquaculture (with 10% for the blue economy).
The total financial envelope for the Bulgarian 2021-2027 programme amounts to €121 million for the next 6 years, of which €85 million is EU funding. 32% of the programme’s funds will be allocated to sustainable fisheries, 40.8% to sustainable aquaculture, and 20% of the funds will be allocated to the blue economy.
The Commission has so far adopted the EMFAF implementation programmes of 10 EU countries.
