18/11/2022 (Agence Europe) – The EU “warmly welcomes the renewal of the UN Black Sea Grain Initiative” on Thursday 17 November, which ensures its validity for the winter (see EUROPE 13065/13). In a statement issued on Thursday on behalf of the EU27, High Representative of the Union Josep Borrell stressed that the initiative “remains vital to continue to drive global food prices down and ensuring food security worldwide, especially in the most vulnerable countries”. The EU pays tribute to “the efforts of the United Nations and Turkey to facilitate the continuation of the initiative”. Mr Borrell recalls that this and the EU’s solidarity lanes have “enabled the export of more than 25 million tons of grain and other agricultural products”. He will review the situation on Tuesday 22 November with MEPs. (AN)
