07/11/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Saturday 5 November, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, condemned North Korea’s repeated missile launches in recent weeks. This is an “alarming illustration of its intention to continue undermining the global non-proliferation regime”, he said. He called for a united response from the international community, echoing the G7 statement last week (see EUROPE 13057/14). UN members, and those of the Security Council in particular, must absolutely enforce sanctions against Pyongyang, he said. This would prevent North Korea from obtaining equipment, knowledge and funding to support its illegal weapons programmes, Borrell said. A few days earlier, the US said that Pyongyang was “making a fool of the UN Security Council” with its repeated launches. (LM)
