07/11/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 7 November, the European Commission approved a new €15.8 million package for Spain under the REACT-EU programme (see EUROPE 13025/24). It will be targeted at two regions and is designed to generate investment in education in order to boost employment. The region of Navarra will therefore receive an additional €4.8 million to promote vocational training for unemployed people, to encourage the hiring of people and to support entrepreneurs. The region of Extremadura will also benefit from an additional €11 million to help self-employed people, promote youth employment and develop vocational training projects. Spain has already received €2.5 billion from REACT-EU. Member States have until 31 December 2023 to spend the REACT-EU funds. (HS)
