07/11/2022 (Agence Europe) – In response to a request for assistance from the Ukrainian authorities at a time when 30% of the country’s energy infrastructure has been targeted and severely damaged by Russia, 500 electricity generators have been delivered to Ukraine via the EU’s civil protection mechanism, the European Commission announced on Friday 4 November. The equipment was donated by Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, France, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden to help maintain the population’s access to electricity and heating as glacial temperatures approach. This in-kind aid is in addition to the emergency winter shelters already delivered through this solidarity mechanism and the additional €175 million in humanitarian aid for Ukraine and Moldova already announced by the Commission (see EUROPE 13047/4).
