EU Member States approve proposals for new EU/Mauritius fisheries agreement

07/11/2022 (Agence Europe)The Committee of Permanent Representatives of the Member States to the EU (Coreper) approved, on Friday 4 November, three legislative texts on the new Fisheries Partnership Agreement between the EU and the Republic of Mauritius for a period of four years (2022-2026). The current protocol has been extended for six months while this agreement is concluded (see EUROPE 13023/4). The new protocol provides for fishing opportunities for 40 tuna seiners and 45 surface longliners. The annual financial contribution paid by the European Union amounts to €725,000. The Council of the EU has yet to formally adopt the texts. (LC)
