On Friday 28 October, the European Commission adopted the national strategic plans implementing the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) presented by Croatia (€3.4 billion), Slovenia (€1.2 billion) and Sweden (€4.5 billion).
The three plans represent a budget of almost €9 billion, including €2.7 billion for environmental and climate objectives and eco-regimes and €227 million for young farmers. All three plans have a strong environmental dimension.
The Slovenian plan will support, among other things, the production of renewable energy from agriculture (biogas, biomethane and geothermal energy).
The Croatian plan addresses agricultural emissions mainly from soil and manure management, while the Swedish plan focuses on carbon sequestration, biodiversity and grasslands.
This is the third approval package for the strategic plans implementing the new CAP (see EUROPE 13020/18, 13011/11).
The new CAP will enter into force on 1 January 2023. The CAP will benefit from €270 billion of funding for the 2023-2027 period. More info: https://aeur.eu/f/3tx (Original version in French by Lionel Changeur)
